can any one recomend a A.T.O. that is easy to use, stable, and has a good price.
I do NOT have a sump, but the container will be under the tank.

I just picked up this double float switch setup at >>>http://autotopoff.com/products/DS1/<<< but since you do not have a sump you'll want this model which is for hanging on the back of a tank>>> http://autotopoff.com/products/DT1/<<< (they have single float switch setups too for less money but I would highly recommend a double switch in the event that the main one fails ... it'll save you a flooded floor essentially). They may seem pricey at first but theyre well constructed and all you have to do is plug it into the wall and plug a dosing pump into the other end (no messing with wires like other float switches for sale which is especially good when your not good with electric work like me). It's always worth spending that extra bit of money in this hobby when you can get quality products :) Good luck and If you have any more questions about A.T.O. setups let me know.

You can do what I did. I just went to the Local hardware store and got an all plastic Toilet Tank Fill Valve I cut the

end off of the bottom and siliconed it to the Bottom of the tank. Since then I have never lost water. Short of water changes.
Not bad for 15$
Plus the tank valve has been tried and tested for over 50years now. and I have had it in my tank for well over 3 now. It may be ghetto But it works like a dream.

mr bean, the ATO you mentioned is only a switch, right.?
keebler, I saw the vid, still not sure on how to best do it all myself. I would try ,but a flood is not fun, maybe next time, thanks.

Yes its a float switch. And I would recommend purchasing the double switch setup just so you'll know your covered against a flood.

Haha, okay. Buying a more expensive one is better if it gives you peace of mind.

Mr. Bean, I just found your thread which is awesome because I have a problem with my new set up. Seems after 4 days of being set up I came home from work last night to find the out pump sucking air. There was a very small amount of vaporation. Please take a look at my tank (first pic in thread) it has a shot of the back of the tank with everything built in. My question is; would this hang on back top off work for that tank. The thread is in "Nano Tanks" and it's "Finnex Finally set up". Thank you for taking a look and giving me feed back.

Hello Fireykat, there are two setups. The one i bought is for a sump however you will want to purchase the tank mountable setup and clip it on the back or side of your tank. It will prevent the pump from sucking in air by always keeping your water level in check. Not to mention a more balanced salinity level :) your fish will thank you lol. Just look for the "Tank Mountable" product and let me know which one you choose (I bought and recommend the double switch for some ease of mind from floods). Goodluck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. Happy New Year!
Heres what it looks like mounted and working in action

We have 2 different ones. ATO by JBJ which was very easy to install and Tunze Osmolator which was a bit more time consuming. Both are in sump installation though.
