I built my new tank stand. I finished it today. Looks pretty good to me. Its been stained and all. The thing is I used a complete oak board to make the top. Its a completely solid top. The only thing is there are a few low and high spots. Not very much variation but there is come. I dont know how much it would take to stress the tank. Please help me if ya can. I need as many suggestions as I can get.
Thanks,
Mark

Sounds like something wasnt level when you built it. Or was it the piece of wood you put on the top? If it was something that wasnt level when you built it, you may have to tear the stand apart and figure it out. Its better to fix it now, then later when you have a fully stocked saltwater tank!!

i wouldnt worry bout the canopy...are you putting a flat piece of glass on the wood?? if so dont do it or your gunna have a problem...if the tank already has supports on the bottom(which it should) then the glass will only touch around the edges and in the middle..
explain this to me more, i would hate to see you crack a new tank

I am not sure where the canopy thing came about. What I am saying is that i built my stand. The top of the tank (the piece of wood that I am going to set my tank on) is not perfectly level. It has some low spot and high spot. I mean if you lay a level on it, its all level but in certain spots you can push one side of the level down and the other side comes up a bit. I guess that means there is a high spot in the middle. I really cant afford to start over and I know that its pretty close to level but not sure what to do.
Is there anything like foam or anything I could lay on top that would take care of any inperfection that might be there?
PLZ HELP

Do you have a diagram of how your stand is setup? Thats really the only way I can answer your question. How unlevel is the top? If its just a tad...dont worry about it.

nice stand..you can always go buy a piece of blue or white foam,,i beleive its used for roofing and in walls,,its a qurter inch thick and that would take care of it..it does come in all sizes also

If I look down the stand longways, meaning that I am on the side and there is 4 feet in fromt of me, and measure in the middle, and on each end this is how much difference i got.

i think the top of the stand is going down a bit from front to back and the back left corner is down a bit while the rest is high. yes its on flat floor about the only place in my house thats flat..thats another reason I had so much problems but I am sure the top of the tank is a bit Bowed if ya wanna call it that, but i dont know if its enough to hurt>>>> Thnks for the compliment!!!!
