Open up a fire hydrant if you ever get a chance. The stuff that comes out is sitting in your municipal water supply. Its not pretty and thats just the stuff you can see. In my opinion you spend thousands of dollars on this hobby already whats another few hundred for the right water
In alamogordo, NM they had a fire, hooked up to a hydrant, got all set up, turned on the hydrant and no water came out. Lines were totally plugged
Some even stated that the water there was not fit for industrial uses. And my tanks salt and fresh continued to flourish. There is a whole world of difference between water stored for years in pipes or other containers, and water which has flowed through your house every day.
