Need Fuge Advice

My sump has been running for a few days and I'm comfortable putting something in it. It's a 3 chamber sump with a fuge in the middle and I need to stock the fuge.
It has live rock in it atm.. just a few pieces that I didn't like the look of from the DT.
If I have a deep sand bed do I need sand in the fuge? What else should I put in there?

Put in some Chaetomorpha Algae, GOOD NITRATE and PHOSPHATE REDUCER!

Do you need to have a sump? could you explain what that is exactly. I just started a 20 gal, and all i have is live sand, live rock, and a damsel. I want to expand slowly, but i have seen the words sump, and fuge, but i don't know what they mean, can you help?

I know some people will ask for some proof, but its said that MIRACLE MUDD is supose to help replenish trace elements because of its MUDDY EARTH components, im gonna see if I can find the article to share.
