Im cleaning a fluval canister filter for the first time and I took the foam screen out and it is so dirty....should I just rinse it and put it back in? I have some blue filter floss, should I use that instead????

If it is foam, then that can be rinsed.
Biomedia should never be rinsed in tap water - just with old tank water.
But the sponges and such should be rinsed regularly.
