need help ick

have been trying to get rid of ick for 2 weeks in a reef tank with invertabaes using kick-ick no luck, is this because the parasite has a lot of cover in 80 lbs liverock in a 60 gal HAVE BEEN DOSING ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTIONSconsidering moving fish to 10 gal and treating. HOW LONG CAN THE PARASITE LIVE WITH NO FISH IN TANK ONLY CORALS,SHRIMPS,CRABS ????/ THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ANY HELP

i am pretty sure the cycle goes for 30 days. I would give it 5 weeks to be safe.

It's never good to use meds in the display tank when you have inverts, lr, and the like. Eric is correct, the fish need five weeks in a qt treating with copper. Be sure to by a copper test kit as you can easily kill the fish if not done correctly. As far as the ick in the display tank, if it cannot find a host (fish) it will die after the cycle of 4-5 weeks.

You need to post this in the disease forum. There is also a sticky thread there that will tell you what you need to do to treat ich. The best treatment is hyposalinity in a quarentine tank. Good luck.
