First thing, what happened to your tank that caused you to lose everything?
Is your tank still running with the water, rock and sand?

Well the rock and sand can become live again, but you'd have to seed it with some LR and LS. It'll take awhile, but they can become live again. :D

i lost power for about 9 days, after the power was fixed i shutdown the tank. the water has not moved since, do i need to empty everthing out and start from scratch. can i keep the rock in water until i get the tank restarted. or can i keep the water in there now and just let it run for a while before starting with new fish and stuff

Well, if everythings been sitting in a dead tank for that amount of time I'd chuck everything and start from scratch. Just my opinion though. :D

The sand probably has too much crap in it. The rock can be scrubbed and re-used. Just use a stiff scrub brush and hit everything. If you had any hitch hikers, take a screwdriver to them to pick them off. Rinse it in some RO/DI water and it should be good. Empty the water and give the inside of the tank a good wipe down.

hi
I just bought the same tank & was just talking to my guy at my LFS about how much sand I would need. I am doing 50lbs of live rock. He suggested about 30lbs of sand to get a good one inch bottom cover. I have read of other people with the same tank using much more. I don't think there is really a question about how much rock weight the tank can handle...the water weighs more than anything. It just depends on what you wnt aesthetically.

 no we had a pole fall, i guess it was old, it pulled the box right off the outside the house. it took several days for the crew to get in back yard with heavy equipment and then fix several lines damaged. 2 other poles had to be replaced oneach side of mine. then it took severalmore days to fix the house.
the cost to me
about $800 in tank
about $300 in fridge
the cost to electric company
new lines to my house and fixing my house, lol
thanks for all of your replies
