I've had this about 3 weeks. All was well until I changed my lighting from 2-36w pc's to 150w mh w/ 36 w of actinics. It completely shrivels up when the MH kick on and looks horrible. I have been acclimating my tank to the new light, and everything looks great except this. What kind is it and how do I fix it?
I posted this on clowns and anemone forum as well..... Just looking for an answer. I don't get it, I thought it would thrive under the new light. :notsure: :notsure:

It looks like a beautiful bubble tip anemone. Did you buy it? Dont tell me it just showed up with some rock??? Lucky you if it did.
BTA's dont need as much light as many corals do so you are probably frying it with teh MH-the light and the heat. It looks like it is trying to hide and has placed itself low in the tank. Usually BTA's will move till they find a spot to perch. Do you have a way to shade it a little-maybe a little rock ledge or something to hide it and let it acclimate itsself for a while?

give it time to adjust its been under low lighting for a while just start it off with a coule hrs a day under Mh and the rest with the lower intense lighting.that anenome has beautiful coloring it would be a shame to bleach that one out

I have a BTA and in my 55g I have 230 watts PC. It never sits on top of any rock always on the bottom or side. I've had mine in there for at least 3 months. It does seem to be doing fine and eating well but it just doesn't seem to like the direct light.

It will take a little time to adjust to your new lighting. Mine did and now he loves it. It has doubled in size since the new lights.

Thanks for the replies, It does hang out on the bottom side of a ledge now, hiding from the light. I'm just really bummed, cause it doesn't look healthy at all now. BTW Granny, It didn't just show up. That would have been a nice treat!
