my wife and i purchased a rsm 130d close to a year ago and have replaced most of the standard rsm equiptment , we replaced the stock protien skimmer with a Tunze 9002 and to be honest it doesnt skim as well as we expected it to and we have played with height , air volume , placement , etc and am really dissapointed with the unit as a whole , we also are using the In Tank Media Basket to go with the Tunze 9002 , Does anyone know of a better protien skimmer to use on the RSM 130D ??? the positive thing about this set up is it left room in the back chamber for the chiller plumbing and a U.V.Sterilizer called The Mean Green Killing Machine it tucks perfectly next to the glass divider that houses the heater ! but we would be willing to change all of that for a more efficient protien skimmer , ALSO does anyone know of a retrofit light kit for the RSM130D ?????? THANKS EVERYONE FOR ANY AND ALL HELP YOU CAN GIVE US ON THESE MATTERS

You might want to go over to RC and find the Tunze forum and specifically ask Roger for tips/help on the skimmer. What type of lighting upgrade are you looking for?

LED and hopefully something that will either retro/replace the stock lighting or something we can add to the front folding opening lid of the RSM130D , we have upgraded everything else except the lighting and we definitly need help lighting wise to help with the growth/health of our soft corals and the sea anemone , the tank crashed about 6 months ago because of my stupidity (5 tanks and the first crash ever) and now we are finally getting back to where we feel comfortable to transfer some of the more expensive and colorful corals back into the RSM from the other tanks THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP ,

thanks for all your help , I had ordered a 12 led 21" LED (each LED was 3 watts ) about a year ago ,it was made by a guy in San Francisco Ca , when I recieved it I couldnt figure out a way to mount it except to take apart the front folding section of the RSMs top and do some cutting ( the LED housing is appx 21" L X 4" W X 4" H ) it is a great LED unit with fans ,so finally I seen the errors in my thinking and just had Tap Plastics cut me a 1/2" thick piece of plexiglass that just sits on the lip of the tank when lid is open , they also cut out a hole so the light is not impared by the plexi , it works great , man I tend to really over complicate and over think things sometimes ,I really wish I could find the reciept for the LED set up so I could post it for others to try , what a difference in lighting , we just went to Hayward Ca today and purchased a couple corals including a 11 polyp clove polyp and it really likes the LEDs , THANKS again for the advice we learn by and from people as you who are willing to share knowledge on this forum !!!!!
