Hi,
I'm new here, and im about a 1year experienced Saltwater Hobbiest. I know i may be sour on my descriptions of things, but I'm still learning alot of this, its fun and great even if you have trial and error, but, I want to keep error out of this picture. Now I have read a bit up on saltwater equip and ect for over the course of 2 years, not daily but here and there. I have a Yellow Tang, Foxface Rabbit, and Perc. Clowns. I also have for corals some mushrooms, and i for got, but will post eventually they are these polyps, they look like they grab and they are brownish. Not Aptaisia. I also have a med size toadstool, and then just last night bought a anemone. They said it will be fine and I know the owner pretty well of the shop I bought it from, it has been there for about a week. Now, wehn i bought it the owner wasnt there, bought from one of his employees at the store. When I bought the light condition it was in was same as mine, my lighting has (bare with me its 3:25am here) I cant think right, lol, but its a JBJ 3Foot wide compact light with 1 bulb antic, and 1 bulb antic/daytime. Now, I am going to get MH and up my wattage, i know my wattage must be around 196watts as of now, which is lower, I have however placed the Anemone under the light directly as possible. So I know light is prob, but i will get a new one soon. Now, it seems healthy, it was doing fine in the shop and they said it was good. Now, I noticed the mouth has been open, and it seems to move a bit, must be trying to find its place. Now, the perc clowns have gone by it but no hosting yet, so hope it changes. and it has a nice glow in the antic lighting. Now, I'm wanting more info on this i will post pics, hope to see a response that will get me more info on this anemone, as for, I want this to work out. Any and all Replies are welcome. And this should help me gain more info and exp. Thanks in advance. Dont know if these pics are attached right.
And if I can get identity verification on it as well, that would be awsome! :)

It sounds like your on the right track with your lighting going MH and you know 196 watts isn't enough for your anemone. The fact that you put it up high in your tank is a plus if it stays where you put it. As for the mouth being open it's probably ok they do that sometimes. It looks good in the pics and is open so that is a good sign. I'll copy the picture and do some digging and see if I can help you ID it as to what type it is. I'll let you know what I find out.

Long Tentacles Anemone ( Macrodactyla doreensis ) its also called, "beaded Anemone"
I've read they need anywhere from 5.5 to 10 watts per gallon.

Thanks for that info, today he seemed to be doing better, I'm sure hes adjusting to new envinroment, and he moves a little bit everyday, so that must be a good sign as well. This is my first year of a complete cycle of saltwater tank, and I have not had anything die as of yet. So, this feels good, but im not keeping my hopes up, I just do my research and make sure when situations do arise I have the knowlage base to recover it, or know how to avoid problems. This is my first Anemone, so I know i have lots of reading and answers and info I need to have. So I sorta threw myself into the open waters with the anemone knowing little. But I feel confident, that I shall succeed, as long as I give my Aquarium the attention it needs in every aspect. I also bought the anemone first be for the light upgrade so it will get me in gear to get it faster by motivation. I have a 55 gallon tank, and need a 4 foot mh light. Any suggestions on where to get a good one at a decent price?
And another question, if he is attached to surfaces, and I want to try to relocate him back into the light, shall i wait a few days see where he wants to be first then if hes in a low light area as of now, how should i handle a situation like this, I think if hes on a rock, move the rock. And also, what is his eating habbits? Is there specific things to look for and when he should be feed untill the clowns start to host him? As far as movement, looks like hem moves about 1-2 inches a day.

the temp should be about 80 avg keep the salinity in the range of 1.023-1.025 SG.
also with your lights i had one in my 90 under 260 watt pc but i get rid of it, didnt like it. if you get just a 150watt HQI MH then it would grow very nicly. nut IMO i think that the anemone would do good under a 70 MH but only with the LTA, dont think that because you can gat an LTA with low light that you can get any other type because most hosting anemones need more light the LTA
