i want to build a hob refugium so i can have a place to grow my grape cualerpa. i dont want to have to glue acrylic, drill holes, etc. my basic idea is to use a smal tank (1-2 gallons), get heavy duty clamps to hang it on the back of the tank, and use a siphon intake and outtake.
any comments on this idea? good or bad? will it work? any help will be appreciated.

You could just buy a HOB filter, take out the media and place in your own. Then place some egg crate in front of it to stop and plants n things from getting out. Just my 2 cents.

Why dont you just purchase one from CPR, they make a small one which I have that comes complete with the appropriate inflow and outflow ratio along with correct lighting and pump size.. I think its much less hassle.
