Bubbles won't hurt, if you just stated it up, give it a little time to break in...
If it continues try adjusting...but still give it some time...

There is no air adjustment on a coralife super skimmer. Turn your outflow valve fully closed so bubnles are way down in the reaction chamber for starters. Make sure you pump is no deeper than 3" in the water, higher up is better, so if you can raise it up to within an inch of the surface great. Next check your outflow and diffuser box. The box needs too be positoned so the sides of the box are approx 1/4" out of the water. The foam inside the box with the hole in the center needs to be about 1/8 or 1/4 inch higher than the boxes sides. The outflow tube itself needs to be at the water level when the tank is filled to its normal height, or a bit above........but it must be in the foam itself. It may help to add an additonal layer of filter batting on the bottom in addition to the white batting material. The best batting is the marineland double density half white and half blue, and cut it so its at least 2 thickness on the bottom of the difusser box. Now turn on pump, and adjust bubbles in reactor column so they are about 1" above the red retaining ring for the colection cup. Let it like that for a day or two and then readjust the bubbles higher for a wetter skim or leave there or run about 1/2" below the funnel portion for a drier skim. If the pump is too deep in the water it pumps more water than it makes air bubbles......Odds are if you got a used CSS 65 it was probably an early model and shipped with incorrect setup install directions. The skimmers are great, and work fantastic. Also make sure the outflow tube bleed

is free and clear, and that the air intake hose to the silencer is placed above water level and it too is not obstructed with trash. If the above fails to get it working properly, I would pull the front of the pump off and check the impeller for a build up of trash.......A lot of folks bought these skimmers and had problems setting them up due to improper setup instructions and a bunch of folks made mods to them thinking they could fix the so called problems, when all that was ever wrong was improper directions from the start. On the older models if you try and run it too high its common for them to leak around the red adjustment knob. Odds are you will not need to open that valve more than about 170 to 180 deg from the little stop thats built into it. Don't think that opening the valve fully is going to give you more as the gate is not designed that way that controls the water outflow....To me money is hard to come by, and I am retired and not about to go back to work to support a hobby or buy high priced stuff if cheaper priced stuff will work. I have 5 CSS skimmers right now with another on order as of today. I have 3 CSS65 a 125 and a 220. I Just ordered another CSS65 again today. If they did not work I certainly would not have bought a total of 6 of them.......These super skimmers can be adjusted and tuned to the point you do not even need the bubble diffuser box. I use the foam pre filter sleeves only and my tanks are free of any micro bubbles or large unsigtly boxes. The bubble diffuser box is the only design of this skimmer that I find fault with......

There was no doubt in my mind it would not work like its supposed to. CSS are a super great skimmer, and just like anything else needs to be setup and adjusted right......For such a good skimmer it was a pitfall on coralifes part to market it with a set of instructions that created problems. It created a lot of problems initially for a lot of folks, and created lots of heartburn, but they are recovering from the screwup on the instructions. Coralifes tech support is top of the line as well and they will do what it takes to make the customer happy.

Hey I Just Bought A Ccs 65 Yesterday And I Am Having The Same Problems With The Bubbles. So After Reading This I Gather That What We Need To Do Is Add More Filter Pad And Raise The Pump Higher? Is This Correct? Please Explain What You All Did And Had Good Luck With, Nanocuber7. Thanks Guys You Are Great.

All the info y u need is in the abov epost. The skimmer that was originally in questin was a used one and shoul d not have needed any more break in for the most part........a new one will require somewhat of a breakin period, so just follow the above proceedure to set it up.
One more thing, on the bubble diffuser itself. It wil require cleaning form time to time as some solids etc get through as well as fine particles and it collect on the foam and filter batting. Just remove and rinse it really good and reinstall. Yu may get some micro bubbles for a little while after cleaning the sponge and batting until all the air that was entrained in it has a chance to accumulate and work its way out. This can take a couple of hours or so.....If after clenaing the foam and filter batting, and days do by and bubbles are still visible, and no other adjustments were made to skimmer and the water level in the tank is ok, odds are its the filter batting is too compressed or its got an area water is flowing through too freely and allowing bubbles to flow with the water itself, so just repack and configure the diffuser box. LIke I stated earlier, the best filter batting is the two sided blue / white stuff made by marineland. Use twolayers of it on the bottom of the box cut to fit. A snugger fit is better than a loose fit.
