Perc clowns would be my first choice as well. You could add a firefish as well, but they don't move around as much. Chromis would be another great possibility. Also, you could add one of any kind of damsel.

1 or 2 small fish at most in a 10 gal.
clownfish
damsels (includ. chromis)
blenny (not scooter blennies though)
goby
cardinalfish
are all good choices. Damsels, and sometimes clowns, are territorial, mix with other fish with caution.
Maybe try one fish and some ornamental shrimp.

I have a yellow tail damsel and a percula in mine 10 gal. They move around constantly, but don't chase each other!

All good choices -
I would suggest either a pair of tank raised perculas, ocellaris (false) clowns or skunk clowns. These will stay small and rule the 10 gallon tank.
I would not mix other fish with them as it might stress your filtration.
If not you could do a shrimp goby and a pistol shrimp as well as maybe a clown coby or two with them .... nice grouping of small fish who don't move around much. The pistol shrimp/shrimp goby would be very cool ....
Would not do any damsels - with so many different fish to choose from I'd not put the damsels in a ten gallon tank.
You coudl do 3 small firefish in there (though that woudl be a large bioload as well).....

I was wanting to do several different types of crabs and shrimp....will that be ok with a pair of perculas and a goby? or is that to much?

A shrimp goby and pistol shrimp would be pretty cool. You can by them seperate or as a matched pair (more $). Go with seperate because they will most likely match up pretty quickly anyway.
Good luck. Just be careful not to overload your tank. If you want a shrimp and goby you need to provide a good sand bed. Add them first and see how the tank handles the bio-load. If everything is OK then MAYBE add the percs.
I don't know for sure if a 10gal can support 2 percs and a goby. Maybe some of the nano reefers can help.

The key with a goby and shrimp comb is having a deep enough sand bed for them both to have a comfortable habitat. IN my 5 gallon I a beautiful long filament prawn goby (shrimp goby) but the subtrate is only 1-2 inches deep - therefore I just leth te goby dig and I will get a pistol shrimp eventually - wehn they move to bigger tank!
IN a ten gallon you are looking @ 2-4 inches of fish max. two percs woudl cover that. If you really want a variety you could do a shrimp goby and then get a (one) clown as well. IF you hada goby and two clowns then you will have isseus in a ten gallon tank (just my opinion). I have two gobies in a 5 gallon tank and I am constantly battling to keep my nitrates low ... need to do a lot more water changes and I now run carbon 24x7x365 .... also I am limiting my coral load to shrooms and zoos and some small frags (and that one huge candy cane - but that will be moving shortly)
In your case I'd do one perc and a shrimp goby and get a pistol shrimp and some other stuff - your tank will grow out nicely and the shrimp/goby combo will hopefully set up house right in the front of your tank ...
