I cannot figure out what is going on with my reef tank I have introduced two fish over the last week which have died. I received a replacement from the store and it died also. I have had nothing but good luck from this store and all of their fish in the tanks are healthy. There were no signs of trauma, went to the LFS they thought some type of bacteria. Now my corals look sick, bubble not extended, plate barely extended. The fish I had in the tank originally look ok, except for my red serpent, I cannot find him. My water parameters are Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate .05, PH 78, salinity is fine also. I have a 100 gallon tank, the remaining fish are 3 green chromis, a royal grammas, long nosed hawk and purple firefish and some crabs. Should I do a water change? Any suggestions?

Is that all your live stock? Ph is a tad low for a reef tank IMO it should be about 8.2 to 8.4.
Have you dosed anything to the tank at all? How old is your set up? do you test for any more things. Alkalinity? phosphates?
I would definatly consider a water change...

Your pH is way off for saltwater, needs to be between 8 and 8.4, that's a big difference. How did you acclimate the tank? Your nitrate reading can't be correct, hobby kits can't detect that small of an amount, what kit are you using? Can you post a pic of your tank and corals which are affected?

Have you calibrated your hydrometer to a known source? I have found that these can go bad over a peroid of time.
