my light bulb just burned out for the first time so i tried to take it out of the socket, but it wont come out, the bulb popped off of the part that plugs into a black socket. its a 21" coralife 65w pc bulb i need to get out, but the end is stuck in the socket. (straight pin) anyone know how to get it out?

Hi Hunt, first unplug it (you probably already did) then get a set of needle nose pliers, insert it into the broken socket with two hands try to apply pressure by opening the needle nose pliers and spin the broken socket end. Hope this works.

Just in case, please wait 5 minutes after you unplug it before trying this. Transformers have capacitors that take a little bit to discharge fully, and I don't want you to find it discharging into YOU.

Unfortunately Coralife PCs are known for this. The pliers usually work, but you might have to get more extreme. We've had it happen a few times. Got so annoyed that I sprayed Wd40 the last go around, came right out after that.
