We came across this strange little guy at one of the LFS. They had him as a branch anemone, but I can't find anything on branch anemone. He has a base like an anemone and a mouth right in the middle like one and OMG does he sting like one lol. If this is a branch anemone then where can I find info on it at. He is prettiest pale green I have ever seen. He has buried his foot in the sand pretty well and made himself at home

Looks like an Actinodendron plumosum. Ones I have seen have a bit more color to them,. Not sure if that means anything. Cant give you any tips on them, I have not researched them, But a general tip would be dont get an animal unless you do your research on them first. Dont want that to sound mean, just a tip for all to consider when takeing the life of an animal into our care. The animal now depends on us and our knowledge for their survival.
Try here. Hope the link is allowed.

Thank you with your help, that is what he is and they said the color's range on these little guys. This picture was taken with my phone cam so its not the best at picking up color's. He is very colorful tho. Where are some good places to look for things that you dont have the scientific name or the best search engine to use. I tried everything I could to look up branch anemone. For the most part I do research before I buy, but sometimes its a little hard when you cant find anything on them without the real name. I have 5 tanks ranging from size 10g to 185 so I'm not without a tank that my one impulse buy can go into. Again, Thank you for helping me find the true name.

Glad I could help some..as said in my earlier post, I was not trying to be mean. IMO, without knowing your experiance, it would have been irresponsible for me not to have mentioned it....I think now, knowing more about you, you might agree ?
As far as where to research...thats the million dollar question in this hobby....here ( and other sites like this ) is a good place to start at times. But dont take everything here or there as truth as well. This does not mean that many here are not knowledgable, many are....its just that you can get many opposeing veiwpoints and even that does not mean that they are wrong, just that many different circustances work for some and not for others...Ive been in the hobby a while my self and often its hard to get good research on the hobby, sorry I cant be more specific, it takes time to search and I often dont get the time and sometimes it get frustrateing too. I have a few books, that help but some can be outdated or conflicting too...IMO, sometimes good ol common sence and gut feelings and applying your own experiances and lots of personal thought about your own questions can lead you to the best conclusions....Gota love this hobby...

I never take anything on here at face value, because everyone is different and has there own opinion on how things should be done. I just find it frustrating when I'm trying to research and I dont find anything because I dont have the scientific name. In my case I was not adding the ing at the end. Once I added ing I found all kinds of things on this little guy.
