Need Info on Bicolor Parrotfish

I just purchased a Bicolor Parrotfish for my 60gal. tank. LFS said that was an appropriate size tank for this fish but I'm reading otherwise upon doing some research. Can anyone offer any info on them and care tips? Thanks!

I would take the fish back to the LFS you got it from, and never shop there again.
That fish cannot be kept in a 60 gallon tank, let alone a tank 3-4 times as big.

Thanks for the response. I'm afraid I made an ametuer mistake! My LFS assured me that this was a great choice for my 60gal tank. He is a beautiful fish, no doubt. I explained to the LFS that I have a fish only tank with no live rock in it. I am reading that they eat off the rock & coral- however the LFS said to feed him a meaty diet and thats it. I'm a little confused & concerned for this fish. He hasn't eaten although I just got him yesterday. Also, how large will this fish grow in captivity & over what time period?? Any help would be appriciated!

OK- Looks like this little guy is going back to the LFS. I am afraid they will re-sell him in the same fashion.

Yea, even in captivity, I would still say at least 2 feet. Not to mention once they start to turn to adult colors, they get ugly as sin (super-males, not withstanding).

Parrotfish are known to swim miles per day in the wild. This fish should NEVER be kept in any home aquarium. The Fish Store you purchased it from should be embarrassed for even bringing in the fish in the first place. I would speak to a manager and inform them that you won't give them any future business, and spread the word to anyone else you know who may be a customer. These stores need to be held accountable for being dishonest, and greedy.
The wholesale price on these fish is very low, similar to Moorish Idols, but stores bring them in, mark up the price and sell them to unknowing customers. You are not at fault, your LFS is. I would however, take more time in learning about species before impulse purchases. We've all done it. This hobby tends to make people purchase on impulse. I've certainly done it in 8 years of keeping SWF.
But I would strongly suggest you find a new LFS. This fish does not have a good outlook, as it is unlikely that someone with a 1000 gallon will come in and buy it. I would just get it back before it dies on you, so you can at least get your money back.

Agreed, not sure why I keep seeing this fish at stores
It's not appropriate in 99% of tanks.
