im going to put a refugium next to my tank, just a little higher than the sump - how do i get it to drain by gravity back to the sump? is drilling the refugium the only way?
Sump and fuge built in one tank...
"Baffles" of varying heights control flow between chambers...
Water enters 1st chamber (under Kalk drip jug) baffle keeps bubbles from traveling to skimmer chamber...
From skimmer chamber through over/under baffles to return pump (front/center)
Canister filter, empty unless running carbon or phosphate remover, pumps water to "refuge" chamber (baffle 1" higher than rest) where it "overflows" and mixes with preskimmed water in over/under baffle chamber then to return pump.
Could have used a power head to fuge or "Td" off return line, but this is in the basement and I wanted full volume pumping "up stairs"
Have also done "fuge in center" design, but I believe the waterflow is too fast to be effective in fuge...(full volume of ovrflow/return pump going thru fuge chamber)
Overflow enters on "right" behind skimmer, return pump on left side chamber.
SQUIDD, on the fuge you have in your basement , it looks GREAT, one question is what kind of lighting do you have over the fuge, as far as watt lt. 3rd pic up. thanks , i'm going to have to switch lighting, thats why i'm asking.
I bought a JEBO fixture on e-Bay...$79
4 X 65 watt PC 4' fixture... Come with two ballasts, two 10k bulbs and two "blue" bulbs (junk...throw them out)
I took the 4' fixture cut it in half, used one ballast and the two 10k bulbs over the fuge...
Then used the other ballast (mounted external of canopy) and the "reflector" (mounted inside canopy) with two "True" 03 actinics on the Main tank... https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/115169/54-is-up
