Need some advice

My coral life super skimmer just stopped turning to allow the foam build up. Not sure why but I am at a point where this is my second skimmer so, should I buy a new one or should I go with a sump? My wife hates the skimmer for the visual factor (not seeing the algea build up or the dirty cup). I have been reading and the sumps look so difficult and very time consuming. What can you guys tell me to do? thanks.

Sometimes there just isn't anything to skim. Turning the red knob will raise the foam, but be careful when you least expect it the foam will start up where it was before and your skimmer will overflow. I hate the coralife skimmer too.

Thanks, but that isn't the issue. The tube inside has stopped turning causing no bubbles to appear in the canister. I have had the skimmer for about a year.
