Hi, today I was in our local LFS and they had these small things stuck to their glass of the aquariums. They told me they are "Colonial Anemone" they multiply quite rapidly and are non stinging.
They have nice green at the tips and definatley look like a true anemone. Does anyone know what I am talking about or have info for me?
Hey when one is given to you free it is hard to pass up
So I do have a small piece of it about the size of a dime and i placed it on a piece of my rock, it quickly stuck there but i would love some into about them :)

I've never heard about colonial anemone, but I think most if not all anemone needs strong lighting and good water condition.
Which local LFS did you go??? I live in van city, BC. I also went to my LFS today.

Hi, sorry I did not get back sooner. First of all none of the pictures looks like it at all. If you would be so kind to go to the "Nano" section. There is a topic "My ten gal" by diddley the very last picture on that page is exactly what I have. It is pinkish in the center and the tentacles are the green.
Please go there so I know exactly what I have :)
Also ivanfj, I don't live in Vancouver, I live in the Sunny Okanagan Valley about 6 hrs away from you.
Thanks all :cheer:

i know what your talking about, they will multiply. i have them in my 12. try strawberry anemones. these things have bubble tips for those helping with the pictures. if i had sprungs invert book i could point you to the page......
as for them stinging im not entirely sure. ive seen them touch my corals with no ill effects but im not really certain. i do know they "open" more at night and in shady places.

Yes that is it. I just went and did some searching too. I came up with Ricordea Florida too. Mine is this exact thing. Anamone, they must be crazy. But I guess in some ways it does look like one as I seen a big one at the store and it was huge. There was a clown having a great time in there :joy:
So now that it is idendified can anyone tell me their experinces with this coral?
The only thing I know is that it spreads rapidly, very easy to grow and keep.
Does it have to be kept away from any other types of corals and what should I be feeding it?
Thanks again for all your help :cheer:

Thanks bdhough for your reply :joy:
Mine is definatley in a shady area of the tank, it seems to like being tucked under a portion of my live rock. I can still see it well and it is such a beatiful color too. The pink and green are really stunning.
When i put it into my tank it just moved into a shady place of the tank, so I guess if it needed more light it would move to that place. Neat thing, I am so excited. I now have two green mushrooms and one ricordea. My one mushroom is just huge. I have never seen a mushroom this big :joy:
Thanks again everyone :cheer:

If you are talking about JL Aquatics. I have already contacte them. Not very friendly. But they will not guarantee anything that is shipped by bus to me. Air is just to costly and with only a 10 gal tank by the time I add my shipping it works out to be cheaper to just buy here what I need.
Thank you though and if you know of any other places that have aquarium supplies in Vancouver area and ship please let me know.
Bye the way ivanfj, tomorrow is the big game hey :cheer:
Thanks again.......Debbie

Ummm, they are the best LFS we have here already IMO although they price their stocks quite high honestly.
I'll be having my car flags up and the jersey on tomorrow. :joy: :joy: Just can't wait~~
