Hi all, I just got an order in from SWF today and I ordered a
Xenia Red Sea Pom-Pom but for some reason it looks different then what they have in thier pic for it. Could someone please tell me if it is the pom-pom type that is supose to pulse or is it a different Xenia? Thanks all.
The 1st pic is what I recieved... and the bottom pic is what they have pitchured under thier coral list for Xenia Red Sea Pom-Pom. ( that is the one I asked for)
Is the one I got the pom-pom type? I would like to make sure before it is to late for me to dao anything if they sent the wrong one.
Thanks all

Just give it time to acclimate -- the amount the arms stretch out will depend on the intensity of the light (more light less extension as it won't be reaching for more).

So it is the Red Sea Pom Pom I asked for?
I have it on the bottom right now since I just recieved it this afternoon so as not to shock it. I do plan on moving it up as it gets use to my lights. How long does it take before it starts to pulse?
thanks

Actualy in my tank the xenia streched more seeking the light...when I got MH lights they shrunk closer to the rock but got a pinker, lighte purple looking better coloring.
Yes you got the right Xenia. I never heard of a pom pom but pulsing Xenia looks all droopy with off color when it is stressed. Yours arrived just today, so they are very stressed.
They are a hardy coral and should be fine, just don't bother them, and wait a few days for them to bloom.

I understand about the light, as Jackri(more light less extension as it won't be reaching for more). stated.
I know there are all types of Xenia as well. Pom-Pom is a type Look on SWF coral list under Aquacultured, they have a few different types.
Flower, You said....

Not to be rude or question you, but if you never heard of the Pom Pom type how do you know I got the right one? Pom-Pom is a pulsing type.
I just want to make sure it is Pom Pom. Any one else out there know for sure by the pic. Thank you

So if I understand correctly you are expecting a pulsing Xenia. Give yours a litte time. If you have too much flow it will be harder to see the pulsing but even now you should see some of the polyps trying to open and close if you shut the flow that is at them off.

Spanko, I recieved the coral today, it is in my tank already. It is the one in the 1st pic I posted. What I wanted to know was if it is a red sea Pom Pom.
I ordered the red sea pom pom from here, SWF. the 2nd pic I posted is a pic from this site of the red sea pom pom they sell.
I just wanted to make sure I got the red sea pom pom and not another by mistake since the one the sent me (1ST Pic) looks different then thier pic (2nd pic) from the corals for sale page.
Do you know if the 1st pic I posted IS a Red Sea Pom Pom Xenia?
That is what I am trying to find out.
Thanks
