well you arent really doing anything in that chamber other than set it there right? The pump is in first chamber skimmer in 2nd and return in third. Might be better to plumb he skimmer outside if there was room. Looks kinda tight in there.put pump in first chamber and have return come back into frst chamber as well.

with the light on your skimmer you will get algae taht will start to grow in it too. something else to think about. too bad you couldnt fit the skimmer in first chamber maybe.

looks good. i have a pretty good amount of light on the skimmer in my frag tank with no algae buildup at all so the amount of flow in the chamber might impeed the growth of algae. its always better to try to put the skimmers intake before the macro like you have it

Hey guys ! Thanks for the comment ChilWil. Hey Mojo, I would really like to move the skimmer out of there, and plumb it outside the tank. But I got very little room, and also you can't plumb the outlet upwards, or it will spill over the vent. I really concern about the cheato,and when I get it, will it by ok to let it float around the skimmer-? Also when should I shut the skimmer off, like putting in vitamins and stuff-?

Its collecting a lot of dirty water and black particles. Working great. Looks like I have to empty the cup every day. I was wondering if I have to shut it off when adding chemicals -? Like garlic-? Also will I be ok, putting the cheato where the skimmer is-?

some addittive will prob make it go nuts dont think garliq will. skimmers are very efficient at removing certain trace elements like amino acids from the water. if you are adding them directly to the water column many product manufacturers recomend turnin off the skimmer for 15-30 minutes to allow absorbtion. since your pump is in the other chamber allowin the chaeto to grow in the chamber your skimmer is in shouldnt be any problem

Sounds good Chilwil. All I need is the cheato, and I should be good. ! I am getting a lot in the cup. I would say its half full of brown water and on the top has a lot of particles.
