need some ideas

I just recently moved into my mother in laws house(freaking recession!). I have a 210g tank, so I have to do large water changes. the tank sits in the family room and is a good distance from any outter walls. the tank is at least 30-40ft from the garage. I had one idea about sitting a trash can outside the bathroom when I go to do the changes a few days ahead to create and mix the saltwater. now I just had the thought about the heat difference between inside and outside the house. I have a rio 2500 that I have been using to mix and move the water into/out of the tank. any ideas?

Ive been thinking and maybe my best bet would be to buy a 45-50gallon trash can with wheels and fill up maybe 25-30gallons and wheel inside when time to fill tank up

thanks for the reply. I lost my main job and before we started to have too much problems we decided to move and they could use our help as well. I guess the job loss wasnt as much caused by the recession as it was by my bosses not being able to do their jobs

JDL, thanks for your reply as well but those wheels tend to not stay attached to the cans. we use those at the restaurant that I work at
but if they were actually attached that would be nice over only having 2 wheels

how about 2 large pumps with hoses, just drop it in remove the amount of what u want and then have sum1 on the other end when refillin the tank and tell them when to shut off?? no? have a heater in the trashcan as well?

guess I am getting the trash can. Ill get a heater before I need one. right now making the water the same temp isnt that hard. by the time it has sit a few days it usually matches

Can you get some PVC with the detachable parts and link some pipes from the container to the tank. Thats what I did. I mix my water and then attach the pipes to the container with a pump that leads to my tank and do my water changes. And vise versa from tank to the drain. My seem like a pain but its not. Better than wheeling a garbage can in the house and tipping it over in your mother in laws house.

I agree, and if you have carpet it won't roll. Or you could do the costly thing and go pay the kid next door $15 a month for doing water changes.

I have some hose that I have been using to do this up until this point. I went yesteraday looking at cans and dont see any that i trust not to tip over from being filled with water. If I just leave it outside and pump the water in I think it would be easier to find one too.
