half of my sps are starting to rtn. i don't know what's going on.
here are my specs:
30g long frag tank.
2 x koralia 4
aquaclear 50 hob
aquatinics tx5 t-5. 5 bulb combo.
ca - 1450
sg - 1.026
no3 - 0
po4 - 0
mg - 1350
alk - 9.0 dkh
everything was doing great. all of my monti caps were growing nicely, and acros had some nice polyp extension. over the last 2 days, several of my acros and millis have started to rtn. the monti caps, still appear to be doing fine.
suggestions??? please help. i don't want to lose everything.

ur calcium and sg seem a bit high. but it shouldtn cause any problem. try running some carbon, and doing a 20% water change.

i think the parameter is just fine if the calcium is 450 right ?not 1450 and salinity just just right for a reef tank . imo

i think you t5 are not sufficient enough for acros. i hear i lot of people keep montis under t5/vho but i never heard of acro's thriving under t5. imo put it under mh to regains its color.

Yikes, no doubt I hope that calcium 1450 is a typo. Everything seems fine although it's weird to see Magnesium in check and calcium that high. Usually Mg is 3x what calc. is????
If your really concerned you can bring them SPS's here and I'll take care of 'em for ya.

Beside the waterchange, run some carbon and pollyfilter or phosban. Try and save the good tissue by fragging or clipping away area's with rtn, even if you have to chop everything up. Pretty nasty issue to have to deal with, good luck and keep us posted.Jim

if they jsut started RTNing out of nowhere, im pretty sure its a water quality issue, rather than lighting. i agree, try running carbo, water change, and if it doesnt stop, frag a good deal into the healthy tissue. any recent temp swings? did you move a powerhead, add more flow? anything out of the norm?

im no pro at SPS but.. can you also list if you did anything to your water lately??? dose?? started using phosphate remover?? or whatnots... most RTN that i read about happens becuase a sudden change in alk...

1450 was a typo. ca is at 450. i've seen many many many sps dominated taks under t5's. my bulbs are 2 months old, so i know that's not an issue. i've had the 2 koralias in ther since the begining. i'll run the carbon right after i do the water change. i don't dose anything. just do weekly water changes of between 4-8 gallons. i'll clip away if i have to.

i'll keep you all informed.........

Keep a close eye on them, my guess would have been a possible temp issue, since all of your levels are perfect. I hope they keep healing up for you. Good luck.

How is everything doing now?
you said you didnt dose anything but you neglected to mention that you added phyto plan to the tank and for some reason it clouded everything up. that was the catalyst to this little problem as you said it happened before anything bad started to happen. and you performed big WCs to fix that.

hey Isistius, man just saw your thred, sorry for your crazy issue you had, hope everything is in check, let us know more later, c-ya bud.
