so ive had my 70watt mh retro in my 14g biocube for over a week now. ive been increasing the time its on everyday. today it was on for about 7 hours and ive been noticing my temp is up around 84 and 86 degrees. i have good flow, i got a maxijet 900 for pump and kaloria nano. anyone think its a good idea to add 2 fans that would blow across the MH bulb in the canopy? or anyone have any quick fix ideas?

so next question is, when i order some fans should i buy biocube fans or will they all work. i believe there is 2 open spots in the canopy wiring for fans?

sorry if this doesnt quite answer your question, but ive been looking into extra fans for the aquapod and been looking up "how to's" on google and a lot of folks have been using fans that are generally used for PC computers that they got at their local electronic store such as Fry's or Radio Shack. I'm assuming they use them because they are quieter and probably cost less. I dont have much knowledge on the biocube but im assuming there might be similar threads out there about installing fans for it. Good luck!

I know that places like nanotuners and the like sell upgraded fans. I wouldn't think that the stock fans would be enough
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

... or if you have some green laying around... put a chiller in between the return pump and the return outflow...problem solved.. I didn't regret getting mine.

ya im gonna give a fan or 2 a shot. id love to get a chiller, i will do that if nothing else works. i turned my heater down to 76 and moved my koralia to the other side of the tank to agitate the surface water a little it seems like that kept my temp yesterday right around 80-82. so im pretty sure once i get 2 fans in there that will solve the problem...thanks everyone

so i came up with an idea. i put a lighter up to the intake and outputs for the fans on top of my hood and i thought if there was some more outputs in the front of the hood it may help with the heat problem i was having. so i did this

when i put the lighter up to the little holes the air coming out blew the lighter out in each hole. im pretty sure this will put an end to my heat problem. after 3 hours my temp is stable at 80 degrees after comin down from 82-84

thanks i hope it does to..and the holes dont even really look bad, kinda look like they came stock like that haha...i also saved my little yellow goby from the back chambers of hell tonight. he was stuck back there for a week. kinda funny i stuck a tiny little net in there today and he swam right in. i think he knew i was helpin him. everyday hes swam away from the net when i was tryin to save him. think he had enough of the torture chamber back there
