Are there any tecniques anyone can share about cleaning a CPR overflow? My 2 downpipes are pretty much permanent hardware until I dismantle the whole tank so I can't remove it. The overflow is filled with aiptasia anemones and im starting to think it may be restricting waterflow. Any tips?
I have the CPR overflow on both of my tanks, but I used hose instead of PVC pipe so its flexable....What I would do..... Have the hose end in a bucket instead of the sump and just keep pouring hot almost boiling freshwater in the overflow draining into the bucket. That should clear the overflow and plumbing of any live critters from top to bottom.
They make a pipe cleaning brush to clear the hose (pipe) It looks like a very long handled baby bottle brush. Use something like that to make sure everything has been cleaned up as much as possible down through the pipes.
If all your plumbing is PVC and you have no flexibility you might have to clean your sump beforehand to make a clear work area and afterwards before putting it back on line....
