It's a coco worm

similar to a feather duster..or christmas tree worm, but it creates a hard calceous tube that it lives in....in that pic it is feeding.

A 250w DE Bulb with a HQI ballast IMO!! That would allow you to keep anything!!

The 400w bulb would work... so would a 250w SE... it may require a chiller but it's hard to tell before hand.
The 250w DE are just more efficient... but they are also more expensive.

RUBBERDUCK those would work good on a 125. but u will need about 3 of them. and as for u teen i would look at single ended mh. they are alot cheaper. im only 22 and i was looking for cheap mh too. i got mine on

. $200 for a 2x175w retro kit. take a look on there. i think i saw a 36in with vho actinics. u mite not need a chiller. if u have a fixture and not a canopy. i have 2x175w mh, 2x55pc, 2x65w pc for the actinics. and i dont have a chiller. and its in a canopy.well heres a pic for ur mom(hopefully she will get the reef bug too!!) my mom did after she saw my tank. now she buying things for the tank.!!!!

ok so (this might be a dumb question) but what Mh (reasonably priced is the best bang for the buck.....that would enable my coral i own now be thriving as well as hard coral or clams?

well i think a single end, with magnetic ballast. thats the cheapest and brightest. mag ballast burn the bulb brighter than the electonic ballast. well maybe a double end might be as bright as SE but they are more exspensive. so for the buck i would say SE mag. ballast. u could get a 250w w bulb for about $100 on
