need to raise pH

I am struggling to keep my pH up.
I am in a new city - Boston - and have never had this issue before.
I noticed when I first started building the tank that I was at 7.8. Later as I got some live rock etc in i measured 8.4
Now this past Saturday I measured 7.8 again!
I am noticing a reduction in my coralline and I am wondering if this is attributing.
What is everyone's favorite method for keeping their pH up at 8.2-8.4?
TIA

I use seachems reef buffer to stabilize my ph along with raising my alk.
Oxygen content could make a difference too.

I am guessing you are using tap water to top off and for water changes. Are you doing any treatment on the water before adding it to the tank? I live in the Boston area. Where I live now the pH at the tap is about 8.0. When I lived in Dorchester the pH was about 7.2.
The tap water pH is irrelevant now. We are using DI water, then aging with salt and Proper pH 8.2.

Did you use any cleaning supplies or things like that when you moved in? Windex does a nice job in messing up the pH. Other then that the tap water would be my next guess.

Everyone thanks for the advice
Crystain - I live in Watertown.
What do you use for your LFS?
I think you are right - the water is coming out around 8.0
I think it was the Ammonia cycling that brought down the pH.
