Need to re-think my tank setup. Any suggestions?

This is what I currently have:
44 Gal (that will not change :)
3 inches of CC and two 350GPH power heads
Fluval 200 series canister filter
Factory hood with two 18' lights (30watts.. i know that needs to change but I can't find a decent hood for a corner tank)
About 10 pounds of LR and 20 of lava rock.
It is a fish only tank right now. What suggestions do you all have to make this setup work a little better?

I would probably add a skimmer even though it is a fish only skimmer. I am a big believer in skimmers based on what mine pulls out of the water.

any recomendations? i've heard good things about the bac pak (i think that is what it is called).

I have a bac pac which, after a break in period, is working great now. I would definately add some type of skimmer. Once you see the crud you collect you'll see why. I would also replace the lava with more LR. It looks better IMO and serves a better purpose as well.HTH
