Need vacation ideas

Going on vacation (hopefully) this summer. I'm looking for the beach (of course) with a reef that we can snorkle (of course). We would love to scuba dive but we aren't certified and haven't even taken any classes. But we also have two girls. They will be 14 and 8 at the time of our vacation. So there needs to be something that will interest them. I know my 14 year old will be happy if there is a beach, shopping and guys to flirt with.

Anyplace in the Carribean or the Bahamas. We're going to Aruba in April. If you want someplace closer, try the Florida Keys.

The Keys will definately be on our list then! We did the Disney thing a few years ago so this year is more for relaxing. I told my husband - I don't want to plan anything. I just want to wake up and go wherever sounds good for the day - or maybe nowhere at all and just hang out on the beach.

If you can find someplace all-inclusive, go for that. It's so much easier for the kids. Everything, food, drink, watersports are included. Its so nice not to have to reach for your wallet everytime they want something. I'm not sure there's anything in the keys though, there's a lot of carribean spots and summer would be consider offseason and cheaper.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why is summer the off season for the Carribean? Is the weather still really nice there in the summer? What area would be a good area to stay there?

Not a dumb question. Summer is summer there too but more people travel to the carribean in the winter to get a break from the snow and cold so the prices are higher. Every place has a peak season and off season. Most island temperature don't vary much during the year although some have a rainy season which is mostly in the fall.

Cancun is great and by far the cheapest. I've never had a complaint about any of my vacations there.
My vacation there:
wake up
eat breakfast while looking at the ocean
go to beach
hang out at pool
eat lunch
have a few drinks while reading at the pool
repeat for the next 4 hours
eat dinner
walk the beach
watch the entertainment
sleep
repeat for next 7 days

Sounds like Cancun is a place to get a sun tan and gain weight

For good snorkeling the keys are great islands. Also Puerto Rico have great reefs and beautiful beaches. Hawaii Is also a paradise but is expensive.
