Hiya - this guy was sold to me as an LTA and I just wanted to confirm. He was pretty much a solid tan at the LFS(under PCs!) but tho he still looks peeved at being moved his colours are allready starting to perk up. He's only been in the tank 10 mins for these pics, his tips are starting to bubble up...he actually goes thru a lot of changes

the underside looks different on a LTA. you can also make a quick ID just based on how the tentacles look :)
he should look nice colored up. He actually looks a little bleached in that pic but hes probably just stressed from the move.
Good Luck!

Color and particularly tentacle spacing around the oral disk, as well as classic bubble tips (not always present).
Basically this is classic BTA looking anemone.
I grant you that sometimes LTA's can look like this. But you have a great photo there which shows a good deal around the oral disk area. If it were an LTA then I would most likely see more tentacles in that area.

Awesome, thanks for the info all....all of his tentacles are bubbled up now (they were not in the store)
and yes - he probably is bleached, he was under PCs at the LFS. I have 8xT5HO, will he recover?

Ok...couple hours later....starting to look a lot more BTA ;) AND....slowly running away, retreating behind the rocks. Should i expect not to see him for a while? (Btw: i have christened him "Mr Ugly" even though his tips are beginning to turn pink.

LOL...well, he was such an ugly colour in the store... I swear he knew I was looking at him in the bag, he was making faces at me!

So i ended up working a 12.5 hour shift tonight and I RUSHED home to catch the tank before the timer turned out at 10 because Drew says he looks 'pinker" today and he's completely hidden!!
Been thinking about the damn thing all day lol and not a tentacle in sight!
Oh well...maybe tomorrow....He's probably hiding from the bright lights after what he was used to.
Anyone know how long they usually take to come back out again? (or does it depend on the 'nem?)

UPDATE!!!
k, don't CARE what kind it is so long as my clown keeps LOVING it!! (he's loving it in the dark tho because the 'nem is only slowly starting to emerge from his cave)
I'm really suprised he took to it...the other one hasn't yet but I didn't really think they would..

(sorry about the quality - I had to be stealth with the flash)
