First time positing pics.
What do you all think of my new 12gal setup? Just set it up Sunday. It will soon be the home of a yellow tail damsel that is currently terrorizing my yellow tang..

Close up of LR

Can you spot the hitch hicker?

This little guy was less than1/4 in wide. He disappeared into the rock and hasn’t been seen since.

ljn0221,
The tank is an Eclipse 12gal. I like it alot, I just wish I went with a glass tank. Im having a tough time finding Acrylic friendly cleaning sponges/scrapers. I love how the filter and lighting is all in the hood, and its really quiet. The tank has only been up for a week and a half, its still cycling, so it will be another week or so befor there are fish, or a clean up crew in there..

Does the 12 gallon require a protein skimmer? And is this the "Marineland Instant Ocean Saltwater Aquarium Kit " which is the elipse 12 plus a heater and other goodies?

Very nice looking, and a little more live rock would make it even sweeter looking! Are you just doing the one damsel, or are you doing a couple more along with your aggressive yellowtail?

Nope, its just the regular Eclipse 12. I went with it because it was only $80. The Saltwater Aquarium Kit was something like $125. I bought a marineland heater separately for $10. I also had all the necessary salt water stuff from my 46gal. (salt, hydrometer ,food ect.)

This will be a fish only tank stocked with hardy fish, so I don’t really need a skimmer. The built in filtration along with the LR should be all the filtration I need.

I really like other types of damsels besides the yellow tail, and I also heard that they should be kept in odd numbers. So I might add a domino and a 3 stripe, but for now its just the one yellow tail..

IMO fish only needs a skimmer MORE than a reef... without very many filter feeders your dissolved stuff will build up faster. Of course I also think a skimmer is crucial for a reef tank too. On the flip side, I know nothing about nano's, so I could be totally wrong...

Here is a quick update. Tank cycled in two weeks, I let it go for one more week just to be sure.

Here are a few pics of the new cleaning crew!

The snails wasted no time getting right to work

Awesome start, maybe get some more live rock as they said before. I think it might be a Margarita Snail.
