Hey guys right now i have a 55 gallon tank set up ...and my levels are rock solid...anyways tommorrow im setting up my new 125 tank! :)...im going to take the water from the 55 gallon and put it in the 125....and i also have a 10 gallon tank that is cycled...was ready to use it as a qt but nothing went in that, so im going to add that water as well...so i'll have 65 gallons of cycled water and live rock from my tank coming in plus live sand.... should this be enough for the tank to be cycled as a whole? ...(almost seem as a water change for it?) ... because im wondering if i'll be able to add my fish that night to the 125 gallon tank.
i have:
V lion 5 inchs
Yellow tang 3 inchs
Niger trigger 3 1/2 inchs
Hawk Fish 2 inchs (at most)
Koran Angel 5inchs
Cream Angel 3 inchs
Garden eel (small SMALL eel...like 9 inchs long but as skinny as a pen)
is this proper stocking for a 125 as well?...or can i have more...or an i fully loaded up
thanks guys!
hopefully you guys can answer the questions!
first picture is of the new tank, second one is the tank i currently have
:happyfish :happyfish :happyfish :happyfish :happyfish

For the tank,stand,filter,heater,extra salts,test kits...etc
got it all for $550
and this guy is bringing the tank to me...im actully VERY suprised....this guy is REALLY nice he really just wanted someone whos going to love the fish, and take care of his tank...thats really what im grabbing from it....im still in shock.
but the stand/tank/can cost him $1700
filter $700
and extras....
so im EXTREMELY happy, my fish are going to love there new home, going from a 55 to a 125 should make them all extremely happy.

Im sure it will make your fish much happier. So they were all in a 55 gallon tank before. boy thats small for a koran,v lion etc ..

They were all in there over time...not that long because each got added over time, but at absolute ...the niger has been in since the beginning, and the v lion for about a month, koran has been in for about two months
.....
how many fish do you guys think i can have in the 125...because i dont want to make the mistake i did with the 55

I would def. say yes. but i would get some smaller fish, like a blenny, maybe a Goby , Mandaran. fish that size
Heres what i have in my 125: 1-foxface, 2-Yellow Tang, 3-red fire fish, 4- purple firefish, 5 & 6- scissor tail Gobys, 7-Green Mandaran, 8-Scooter Blenny, 9-Lawnmower Blenny, 10- Coral Beauty Angel fish, 11-Blue Velvet Damsel, 12-Blue Damsel, 13-Heniochous Butterfly, 14-Maroon Clown, 15-Cinamon Clown, . And i think thats all. Not to mention all the crabs, shrimp, and snails, starfish x 4 , scallopsx 2, feather dusters x 3 and a few other critters. and my tank has done fine for quite a while now.
goodluck to ya

p.s. i posted some pics of my tanks on the photo section, go take a look.

I would let the tank set up a few months and grow some bacteria. Then take it from there. one fish at a time. and remember little fishes can become big ones. You just don't want a nitrate problem from over stocking a new tank or be sitting on a time bomb as they get bigger like I was. Be patient. In the long run it saves a lot of heart ach and money.
My tank is a 175 but my whole system is 270 gal. Now that my fish are a lot bigger... I have to make a 30 gallon water change weekly to stay on top of the nitrates and I only have 10 fish. I also have 2 skimmers, 5 nitrate sponge bags and a high dollar denitrator to help out. Although the denitrator hasn't kicked in yet. It takes about 3-6 months for that to kick in. I've tried a fuge twice but with no luck.

so i think in my 125 im just going to keep the fish i have already, add a clean up crew ,and some snails and call it good for about 6 months...to see how things handle because the guy i bought this with, with the filter he used, the said he didn't do A water change in a year, said everything balanced perfect, now he had a reef, and i have fish so im assuming im going to have to do water changes every so often...but i know on my 55 gallon i have all those fish...and i only do water changes about one every month and a half...and my levels are perfect,..i just do it so the water stays fres....in the main tank in debating if i should do a fish tank, or a reef tank.....im tihnking fish to start...and reef later ...just because i am so new to saltwater,...(only about 4 months) ..so im still a BABY in this hobby...but i absolutly LOVE it.

Sounds like a good plan. Just remeber water changes also replace essential elements that are removed over time from skimming. Water changes replinish them. My big system is a fish only system with 250+ lbs of LR.
I also have a small reef and love it. It just has a lot of different feeding requirements. That system gets a water change every month.
