Hey just picked a mushroom and some kind of leather if im not mistaken. I forgot the exact name of it. Can anybody ID it?? But anywayz i got a couple of questions. Are leathers suppost to be in a strong current and is the positioning of it too low?? Also the zoo's have some kind of tubes coming from inbetween them. I dont know what exactly they are and my camera wont pick them up, any ideas. One more thing is whats that growing on my lr. Its A pinkish color and when u look close it has bumps on it w/ holes. Kinda looks like a coral. Anywayz these are my tanks specs:
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
PH 8.4
Salatinity 1.023

Your leather should be good almost anywhere that has decent flow and direct light, although extremes of each are not needed. One question do you have any type of support for your LR. I only ask because the top rock that is waaaay above everything, looks great, but if it tumbles down could destroy alot of things. All you would have to do is throw some apoxy under it and reinforce all the individual layers of LR from bottom up. I would do this if you have not. Tubes in between zoos are probably just tube worms. Filter feeders that are at no detriment to your tank. Not sure about the other thing. Looks great!

Clearer pics are needed for a positive ID. All leathers dont the same requirements some prefer moderate flow some prefer low indirect flow. Typically lighting isnt an issue anywhere in your tank it should be happy with your lights but on occasion and depending on species they may want more. They are rather easy to keep corals and observing them will tell you if they are happy where they are.

Ya that top rock is supported. I wish i could take better pics but thats all i can do right now. Ill try again. Im also having a problem fight a little bit of cyno. My levels are good i just dont understand why it keeps coming back. It will be there on my sand when i get home from work at 6 then by 8 it will be almost gone and theres also bubbles coming from teh cyno. any ideas??

Im not sure he seems happy right now but he is also growing. Hes got a great personality and he likes to show off when people are around. Great fish i hope i dont have to move him to my 75 gall.

Nice pic of your cyano...LOL.. your leather looks like a colt coral. There are a number of different shapes and looks colt corals can have.

Do you scoop any out? You could try to reduce your lights to about 4 hrs a day increase the flow to the affected area, and then address why. Over feeding your fish? or corals? just a couple ideas...

hmm whats overfeeding. i usually feed the clowns everyother day and its really isnt that much. When i do that i put kents zooplex (ithink thats the name of it) for the corals and thats about half a cap. What do u mean by scooping it out?? Put a cup and actully scoop whats on the LS out?? And as for cutting the lighting that wont affect my coral if it only runs 4 hrs aday?

Wow i got home and my tank was 92deg. I had people over for the bears game lastnight (which was horrible display by the bears) and i think for some odd reason somebody turned off the fan in my room taht goes over the tank. The wiered thing is that i never had it go that hot before w/ out the fan. Maybe my heater shorted out or somthing. I brought it down to about 85 right now soo hopefully everythings allright. No casulties yett.

Your dosing Zoo wayy too much IMO and im 90% positive thats why you have cyano. Over feeding in general to your fish can lead to an issue but zoo or phyto over dosing can expidite the process. Once a week for your corals is plenty. You are adding enourmous bio load to your small tank by feeding that much, how are your nitrates? Yes scoop out the cyano on your sand bed. Use your hand, net, small cup, get as much of it out as you can. Do a 20% water change and use RO water. If you can use the syphon and try to suck up any remaining areas of cyano. Cutting your light usage down for 3 to 4 days wont hurt your corals, they wont open fully but it wont hurt them. Feeding your fish on the schedule you have is fine IMO.
