New 24 nanocube

Ok, I just got a new 24 nanocube and I have a couple of questions:
1. Is it worth it to buy a RO/DI unit for this size tank? Or should I just buy RO water as I need it?
2. I have seen several different filter configurations and was wondering which works the best? I am setting it up as a reef so I removed the carbon and bio balls. Should I keep the sponge in stage 1 and add LR to the remaining compartments?
Adding about 30 lbs of LR and have 30 lbs of LS.
TIA
Bob

1.i think you can get away with RO water.. but if money is no thang.. then get a RO/DI unit... you never know when you'll need it :p
2. i dont know sorry
i know LR can do most of the filtration in my 10... but i dont know how it works for a 24 gl

what type of filter is this... good job on removing bioballs... if it were me id remove the sponge because crud will build up and that is alot of maitnece to clean... is this filter hang and or do you have a small sump/ fuge?

The Nanocubes have the filter built into the back of the tank.3 sections:1.sponge, 2.ceramic and carbon. 3. bio balls and pump. Thats how it comes from the factory.

you think he'll need a skimmer .... ????
maybe run carbon a few times a month and with that live rock you should be okay.... a skimmer would be ideal... but i dont think it's necessary..:notsure:
still new though

I haven't heard of anyone using a skimmer or sump on a Nanocube b4. How would you install? Sorry if I sound like a maron, but the more I read the less I realize I know

i think it would be impossible to atttach a skimmer to your nanocube....
unless you had a sump or refuge ... that you could attach it too
... i think you'll be ok with no media... and lots o' LR
but i'm still new at this game.. so dont just take my word for it

diy using pvc run it to your sump and pump it back with a small pump like a mag 5... there instant sump... drill 2 holes for a siphon break

hey this is a little off topic....but i think i might get a nano24 (reef) and i noticed it comes with like 2,36 watt bulbs ( 10,000k blue-white combo bulb and 6500k daybulb ) thats 72 total watts do u think this will be enough for a reef tank???
