Just started yesterday. First saltwater tank but I've had my 45 gallon bowfront freshwater tank for 4 years. Haven't done any tests yet but I'll post a pic. Any advise or tips would appreciated thank you. I'll have updates for the tank as the weeks go on.

Hi there it's been 9 days since I started my tank my levels are all perfect. But my ammonia is finally starting to spike a bit which is good, it's finally cycling. Getting lots of color in my live rock already green, purple, red, and I even saw some orange in the back. I even have a feather duster appearing.

Good move to add that extra powerhead in there. Some people say to position the powerhead such that it creates turbulent flow with the tank's stock nozzles. Probably a matter of preference, but I added an extra powerhead to mine and put it on the opposite end of the tank.

Hi again. I had recently bought my cuc about 4 days ago. I think I have 1 emerald crab, 6 or 7 hermit crabs. And about 3 turbo snails. Not one of snails lasted and all my crabs have been good. Funny thing I noticed but I had 4 empty shells when I put them in the tank so I got jipped out on 4 cuc lol but whatever.
No ones fault. Now I'm just going to let those guys sit and test my levels and be patient

Snails can be tricky to acclimate. The empty shells happen alot lol I like getting my crabs and snails locally them I pick out the exact critters

I did get them locally just they either died on the way home or there wasn't anything in them to begin with. Which I think is what happened. Vacant shells

New aqua scaping and update

It's been just over 3 weeks since I fired up my tank. Tank is ofcourse cycled. Have added cuc. I've had a couple of crabs die which sucks I felt bad for them. Not sure why they died. The rest are thriving like crazy. I added another 10-12 pounds of live rock which puts me around 27 pounds of lr which is great and I also moved my power head to the other side to go with the flow of the other built in pumps. Thanks for the tip innerdragon. Still being patient with adding and corals or fish. Want to wait a while before adding those. If anyone is following or reading my updates thank you. Please give me tips or advice if you have any or if you just want to talk feel free

Crabs are weird. I think it has to do more w the way there collected and handled. By the time we get them there are some that are just to far gone.

Yea I guess, felt bad for the little guys. I have found 2 dead so far the rest seemed to be chowing down all day so they seem happy. I was thinking of getting a emerald crab. Any luck or advice and tips about these guys? I heard they're good to have.
