I'm suprised you have so many fish in your tank. All of the reading I've been doing suggests 1" per 5 gallons but I guess it's more a matter of how much maintenance you're willing do do. I'm interested in the variety of invertabrates you have. What special exceptions do you make with them? Temp? Testing? Food? Light? etc.
I only have 2 fish in there, the Maroon and the Damsel. Lots of inverts and cleaning crews members. Prolly whyI really don't have much of an algae or detruis(sp?) problem on the sand bed.
I too try to stick to the 1" per 5 gallons, however, it is difficult.
I did invest in a Coralife light fixture for the 30 gallon, however, since I am at work atm (shhhh) i can't put specs on it. It provides about 4 watts per gallon +/-.
Feeding is 2 times a day, flake and Hiroki freeze dried, with live brine 1-2 times a week as a treat.
I test for all the normals: amonia, trites, trates, pH, Alk, salinity, gravity, and Phosphorus(grr). Temp is constant around 78 degrees +/- 1 degree usually.
I did have some shrooms, however, my slainity got too high after the hurricane and I believe they are in shroom heaven.
Other than that, no real exceptions are made for the inverts.
