Here's my 4 gallon tank. It's still cycling, almost ready.
I plan on putting a low light anemone or feather duster or mushrooms, a tiny hermet,a couple snails, and a tiny fish.
Got any tips or suggestions for me? This is the smallest tank I've done!
I couldn't decide what pic I liked better, so here's 2:

Looking good Game, but I would remove the thermometer from the inside of the tank so it doesn't break.

How? Would you recommend one of those sticky ones for the outside of the glass? I have one in my big tank and it's fine. :notsure:

Same water, you just have to stay on top of maintenance as it can get out of hand very, very quickly. You would be shooting for the same water paramaters as in a large tank.
You might want to check into switching the bulb to something else, maybe a 50/50 bulb of 10,000k and actinic. You will get much better coloration of of the corals and such. Although you might have trouble finding many bulbs in that size.

Here's some pics.
I don't have a ruler, so I put some of my hand and a finger in one pic for comparison.

What kind of corals can I get with flourescent and actinic? I need to go check the wattage in my big tank.

I can't see anything on the bulbs or the side of the light holder. All I can see on the white bulb is "Eclipse".

actinic is not a type of bulb, rather it refers to the color of the light that comes from the bulb. Flourescent, Power Compact, and VHO (Very High Output) flourescent all come in an actinic color. It is a deep blue that is almost like a blacklight in that it makes colors almost glow. That combined with a 10,000k bulb (pretty white), will closely mimic the color that sunlight is in an actual ocean reef. You can achieve this with either a bulb of each, or what's called a 50/50, which is one bulb that is a blend of the two.
What you have is a 12" T5, Normal Output (or NO) bulb made for freshwater. Unfortunately I have not been able to find anthing in a 12" T5 other than what you have and that is really not suited to any corals. You might be able to keep some mushrooms, but that would be about it.
Another option would be if you would be willing to purchase a 13 watt Power Compact "retro kit", take the guts out of your current hood and replace it with the 13w PC (about $25). They come in a 50/50 and will provide much better color. You still won't be able to keep much more than mushrooms or other low light corals, but it is at least better color. It would also take a little DIY skill.
Yet another option would be to scrap that hood all together and make a custom one out of wood, but that requires that you have some woodworking skills and tools. If you did that, you could put at least two of the retro kits in it and it would allow you to keep low and medium light corals.

SO with the 50/50 it just shows more colors, and I can still only get mushrooms and such unless I go to something more powerful right?

That's right as far as corals go. Of course you can have crabs, fish, snails, etc. which can live under just about any light.
Also, you probably have figured it out, but Eclipse hoods are pretty much in the same boat as far as lack of power. Depending upon the size, you might be able to get a better color bulb for it though.

No, right now you have a freshwater bulb that is fairly white. A 50/50 bulb will give you a blend of white and blue. The problem is you can't get an easy replacement 50/50 bulb for your light hood the way it is now, that's why I recommended the retrofit kit. It will allow you to use a different style bulb, a compact flourescent, which does come in a 50/50. 50% is a "white" light, and 50% is a deep blue called "actinic" (close to a black light that makes some colors seem to glow).

if you only have flourescents you shouldnt keep any type of coral not even the least light demanding ones.get some pcs if anything.also the water that clown123 talked about could have been RO/DI water which is essential for a saltwater aquarium.

Also i dont think an anemone is the best chioce for a tank this small.
one problem and it will kill off the rest of your tank. unless you catch it quick and do a lot of water changes
