I have a month old 46g seaclear acryllic bowfront tank. Have around 65lbs live rock and 40 lbs live sand in the tank, 3 snails, and 1 tomato clown.
The Aqaurium has a pretty much sealed top with two cutouts in the center for the current fixture. The two holes have a skinny strip between them of acryllic.
Aquarium came with a cheap fixture that houses a single 24" flourescent bulb with a max wattage of like 20 watts. So obviously i need to upgrade. I think i will do some soft corals at the most so not sure if i need MH or not.
I am a newbie to saltwater and lighting and have been searching high and low on the forum. My concern i have is the pre-fitted light fixture fits so nicely on the tank and if i replace it with high wattage lighting will the acyllic warp any? Would a nova extreme 36" work? It is exactly 36" wide so curious if it would fit. Is it okay to have that under a canopy?
There is so much info out there i am going nuts trying to decide what to get. I appreciate any info one could provide. Especially from anyone who has an acryllic tank set up with higher wattage lighting.
Thanks!
Bruce
