if i could stock it..
i would have
3x chromis
2clowns
royal gramma
sixline wrasse or one of your choice
cardinals are an option
dwarf angels are an option
sand sifter goby
hawkfish if you do not plan on keeping shrimp
these are all options..
i wouldnt suggest one of each. but pick or choose a good 4-5 IMO

thats cool. why dont you add like another trigger? its really up to you. or why not a lion fish? those fish are cool.

I would never put two triggers in a 55; the niger will soon outgrow it as well. IMO, any lion in a 55, or any tank, with any trigger is probably going to be a chew toy for the trigger. How big is your niger? These guys don't stay the cute little guys you see at every lfs; they are true, big (mine is about 10" now), aggressive triggers. They will eat any invert and torment or kill many smaller or slower fish (like lions). I know many people have kept nigers with everything that swims; but they are just not community fish. I'd get the niger out of the 24 gal ASAP. no matter how small. Aggressive fish+ cramped quarters=stress=one nasty trigger.

A dwarf lion is a great choice for a 55; but don't trust triggers with him.

You didn't jinx yourself; if the niger did kill the hawkfish, its the inevitable result of putting a trigger in a 24 gal tank. If this was lfs advice ,maybe the same lfs that had you cycle using damsels, its terrible advice (but not surprising). I'd do some research BEFORE you buy fish. Not picking on you, we've almost all done this starting out.
