New 75 gallon

I have a new 75 gallon tank that is predrilled. My aquarium will be viewed from both sides, so I wanted most everything hidden. Any suggestions on a type of filter or skimmer? I plan on having live rock and fish, with synthetic coral. Thanks for your help.

my suggestion is patch the hole with a piece of glass and some aquarium silicone, and buy a hang on filter for one of the ends of the tank.about 120.00 or buy a wet dry filter with a sump,a pump, and hang it on the end of the tank, cost about 250.00.you decide.i would go with the wet dry and a pump but purchase a pump big enough to accomadate a protein skimmer you will need about three months after setup.good luck

I’m curious as to how much you paid for the 75gal predrilled, I’m thinking about that same tank. As far as filter and such, I would recommend a DSB and LR. You and also add a DIY sump in the stand and put your heater and skimmer in their. Then all you would have in your tank would be the overflow pipe, return line, and any powerheads you have.

I'd go with the wet/dry filter. I have a similar setup as you. I have a 75gal but so far it is fish only. I plan on adding live rock eventually and possibly some hardy inverts. I use a wet/dry and protein skimmer. My tank is not predrilled so I use an overflow box. If you have enough live rock you may not even need the wet/dry. I made my wet/dry as a DIY. You might think about that to save a lot of $. Its very simple to do.
P.S. I am assuming that since you are from KS and you have ksu as part of your name you go to KSU? I got my first degree from KSU a few years ago. GO WILDCATS!
Good luck

It's hard to find a tank online. Most places don't ship. try your lfs, and go in there with cash. i got a good deal on a 155 bow front because I had cash, not plastic. as for the filters and skimmers, check out dry goods to the left this web page. :)

I paid $272 for my predrilled 75. Since I first put this post up, I have decided to try some coral as well. Any thoughts on lights. I bought a 110 watt compact flourecent with the purchase of the tank. What would I need to add? Thanks for all the advice
