New addition - Helmet Cowfish

Long horn cowfish brought me to this hobby. After down sizing from 90g to 30g I had to let him go. So... after doing some research I found out that I can find a "cow" that grows to about 4". At the same time I found this little guy at the LFS. I am planning on getting 55-75 gallon tank next year so he should be fine in mine until then. The most important thing is that none of my fish bother him so far. I also found out that this kind of "cow" will not likely kill my tank when he gets stressed or dies. Enjoy pics! :)

I wanted a Honeycomb cow but have not pursued getting one due to the risk of killing everything in the tank should it stress or die.
Please keep us informed on your Helmet Cow. I'd be interested in one if they are less risk to the tank. Cows seem to have great personalities

aww! ive wanted a cow since like a week after i set up my first SW tank. they are sooo cute! but yeah ive always been nervous about adding one due to corals & if it dies.
now not trying to thread jack, but i heard that they dont always release chemicals when they die, is this true? its like, if they die from stress / attack etc. they will, but if they just die naturally they wont? dont take my word for this because i have no idea, thats just what i heard. anyone know for sure?

Yes it is true, you just never know. Now how powerful it is if it gets released? I think it has a lot to do with size of the fish. Most of the resources I found about this guy would say that he grows 10"+ in the wild, and only 4" in captivity. I would imagine that 12" cowfish would do a lot more damage than 4" one. I also read that there is a chance they will kill other fish in a tank, but not corals. I hope all this is true... Maybe someone here on this forum has one and can give us some info?
