new addition - RBTA

We just purchased a beautiful RBTA and the clown that has been hosting it. They seem to be fine so far but the RBTA is just sort of floating around. Is this okay? I have done some reading and it seems this is normal. How long does it usually take for it to attach itself somewhere in its new home?

It all depends on your water conditions as well as lighting and the health of the anemone.
Normally about two weeks for it to acclimate to your tank, then comes the walkabout period where it will move around your tank looking for the right conditions for it.
BTA's and RBTA's will look for a crevase or hole in a rock to place thier foot into.

Will it matter whether or not the anemone is upside down until it acclimates? It seema to shift around and end up in a low flow area with his foot up.

Have you tried placing it on the rockwork starting in a low flow area where it might have time to grab onto the rock?

If it is wandering around, make sure all your intakes have either large screens on them or sponge filters covering them. If they don't, it may get sucked in and kill most everything in your tank.

It has attached and moved again. It has now moved to a spot in the rear of the tank. If it attaches there we will try to move it to a more visible area with the same conditions.

Mine decided to attach itself to some plastic vegetation I have near the aerator.... I thought that was wierd because I was under the impression they like calm water.... good to hear yours finally planted itself.

my rbta has been moving for the last 2 weeks since i put him in the tank. At one point he was hanging upside down in one of the cave before he decided to come out and stretch for some ligthing. I don't worry to much with his constant moving. He's just trying to find his spot. Now if only i can get the 2 clown to host him, all would be good.
