New addition to the family

Just bought this Japanese Dragon eel this past week, he is 24" long and eats like a horse. He resides in a 55 gallon tank but will be moved later to a 125 tank.
Always wanted one and finally found a healthy one that is eating and acclimated to tank life.

Oh man...that is freakin' sweet. Cool eel. I've never seen a smaller one like this, all I've seen are fully grown adults. That's gotta be the coolest thing I've ever seen in a tank. Nice buy.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe the japanese dragons aren't nearly as expensive as the hawiian versions. you might want to search for one.

He is actually alone in the tank, I was told by the aquarium store from where I bought him, that he eats anything that goes in the tank. Even if it's to big for him to swallow whole, he will kill it 1st.
I'll post pics of him eating and a full shot of the tank next time I feed him, ok?

I searched everywhere and believe me.... the Japanese Dragon eels are much more expensive than the Hawaiian ones and they are much tougher to find too.
I paid $800 (plus shipping) for it, it was advertised for $1050. The store owner gave me a deal since he had it for 9 months and probably tired of expending $ feeding him.

AW2 has one with a whitemouth and a grouper i believe so i think when you upgrade you could do some tankmates,...

Dont believe everything a LFS tells you. I've had my 30" female for 2 years, with everything from Groupers to Triggers. It's never once shown any aggression to the fish.
Make sure the fish are too big to be swallowed and you'll be fine.

Sorry about that.... I didn't think about it. Didn't mean no harm.

I like to try to put a Sohal Tang in there, it's about 4"-5" long from head to end of tail.
What do you think? Hate to feed him a $80 meal
