Looks like he welded some acrylic strips to the pipe? I might have to steal that idea.
The slotted pipe is an abs pipe - I jointed a flat side that was approx 3/4" wide by the length of the pipe - the sheild is 1/4" acrylic with 1/4" space in between, the slot is a standard 3/16" - acrylic melts very well to ABS using methylene chloride. This time I used 1/4" nylone bolts with a nut to hold the screen in place. The slotted pipe is 1-1/4" dia - I wish they made 1" ABS pipe - I think the pipe might be a bit big - but time will tell. The only thing i don't like about this is I can't see into the AS from the side.

Did some changes today and also realized that my pump is too small. I am going to order a larger one soon, this one is going to have to due for now. I wasn't happy with the lights getting as hot as they were, if you looked at the picture of the 3 bulb holder the electrical box was acrylic, so I drilled two 1 inches holes top and bottom and glued a piece of ABS pipe to seal it. Also put some ABS around the ceramic bulb holders to shield the connections, just in case I happened to touch them some day. Also the slotted pipe that holds the screen I built a shield around the slot - I didn't like the noise that was coming from it so all I did was move the 3/16th of an inch slot to the end of the shield. Also the screen was kind of short so I added a 3 inch piece into the slotted pipe and wire tied the roughed up one to it. Everything is very quiet now. Also I now need to work on some light reflectors. More to come.

UPDATE - I bought a new pump today Rio 2500 should give me about 350 GPH, the pump is pumping SW about 6 feet vertically,
just about right for a screen 10 inches long. I am starting to see some color on the screen now so hopefully with the extra flow I will start to see some results, I still have the other algae scrubber running I don't know if that is a real good idea.

If the new one is starting to grow in now I'd say go ahead and take the old one offline and see what that new puppy can do. Just my .02

Ah, ok, got yah.
I am building my next scrubber in a 5.5g plastic tote. Tryin' to save a little money here and there.

Well, I thought about doing it in a 5.5g aquarium, and then a 10g aquarium like you, and then I just figured I would just set one up in a $3 plastic tote. Which, by the way, I am really going to need your help and ideas for this one. But, I'll start a thread on it soon. :D
