New Arrival!!

Well I ordered my dwarf zebra lion the other day, and I got lucky. My LFS orders on wed, and they get their fish and supplys the next day. So I ordered him yesterday and got him today! I decided that my LFS more than likely doesn't know what their talking about(like most things.) Anyways the little guy is about 3in right now and appears to be in good health. He has allrdy ate a feeder molly after being in the tank for 2 hours. Did I make a mistake by feeding him so early? I'm going to feed him feeders for about a week before I wean him to frozen foods, I alrdy have silversides, squid, blood worms, and formula 1 ready to go. He is currently in a 20 gallon by hisself, and I plan to get the 55 bass tank up and running with SW in the next few months. Just thought Id share my new arrival!! Any helpful tips or suggestions as to making my little lion have a better life would be great!

Update... after 3 hours got him to eat a small silverside.. its looking like he'll do fine... unlike what the LFS said.

My understanding of lions are that you should only feed them maybe twice a week. I've read that a lot of lionfish die from too much love (feeding). Something to do with fat in the livers. Some of the other guys can answer better.

Dwarf zebras are gorgeous, im thinking of getting one to go with my dwarf fuzzy...
What does Forumla 1 consist of? My lion eats prawns, and mainly krill. Dosnt really like anything else, including lance fish, silvesides etc. Will be getting a few fidler crabs for him soon..and maybe a few small FW crayfish..Over here in the UK we dont have ghost shrimp...shame really

Formula 1 is a great food for ALL tropical marine fish. Its made by Ocean Nutrition, and most LFS's carry it. It consists of, in this order, shrimp, clam, krill, mussel, kelp, green algae, red algae, fish roe, and a bunch of other things.. Its loaded with vitamns and it has "gel binder" to help keep the vitamins on the food.

And how do you feed it your fish? Is it in frozen cubes like brine shrimp, bloodworm etc?
And when it hits the water and starts to thaw, or, if you thaw it first, wont it all split into small peices?

It comes in little sheets.. you just break off little chunks of it, and feed to your fish like you would any other frozen food. I haven't had any probs with it spliting apart into small pieces it pretty much stays the same exact size as when you broke it off.
