On the right hand side of the pictures there should be 4 different links. You want the one on the bottom. Just copy and paste the links here and your pics should show up.

ok, now that my tank is setup, I put 30lb of sand and approximately 49lbs of liverock. Still trying to get pics.
Since I am going to do soft corals is there anything I need to add to the tank. I know I have to wait for it to cycle but just trying to prepare myself.

Nope. Just kick back and relax. A good time to get very proficient at using your testing equipment though.

My other tank is a fish only tank, now with live rock how long is the wait before I can get a cleanup crew. Do I need to test for calcium or anything special.

I did water perameters today approx 14 hours after setup, they are as follows.
SG: 1.019( little low)
PH: 7.8 (little low)
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: .25
Ammonia: 0
Will take a few photos now that everything is cleared up.

Oh wow, I absolutely LOVE the rockwork -- good job! Now your biggest challenge will be to leave it alone and not try to "tweak" it a little because once you start doing that you end up tearing it apart and starting all over again, several times!

I'm just starting a 14 gallon BioCube - only put the rock, sand and water in yesterday. Time for me to go start a thread of my own.
Welcome to the boards, and good luck! I look forward to sharing our experiences since we're starting at the same time, and the nano gang here is outstanding so we're in good hands.

What is the best way to increase the salt level. I would think to remove some water, dissolve some salt in the water, then put the water back in?
Sue,
It's been hard not to tweak the rocks but so far I have resisted..

Well since you won't be adding anything in for awhile. You could mix up some salt to about 1.030 and exchange it with old water. Normally if your tank was stocked you would have to do this very slowly, but since you just started you could get it all done in one day if you wanted.

Well, added more salt finally got my SG up to 1.021 so I added a little more waiting for it to even out then will check again tomorrow.

Looking very good...Like your aquascaping...
Yeah get your salt up to 1.024-1.026...
I like mine at 1.025 because its easier to acclimate my fish because most my lfs have there salt at 1.024...lol

That is really high for a fish only tank, my lfs keeps them at 1.019. I usually drip acclimate for about 3 hours or so.

I know i thought the same thing...lol...but keep in mind they are a saltwater fish only store and keep tons of corals...They probably use the same water for all there tanks...

checked water perameters today
SG: 1.022
PH: 8.2
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: .50
Nitrate: 0
Are both Nitrites and Nitrates suppose to go up or just nitrites?

Did you ever see ammonia in your water testing? I'm wondering where you are getting nitrites from if you haven't seen ammonia yet. You should see ammonia first, then as that declines the nitrites rise, and as the nitrites convert to nitrates the nitrites will come down as the nitrates go up.
Sue
P.S. LOVE your aquascaping. It's tempting me to re-work mine!

I set the tank up on Saturday, I did not test till yesterday and then again today. My ammonia has been reading zero both days and my nitrates are zero, but nitrites have been going up. I am not sure to know exactly when the tank has fully cycled, I know it will take awhile but I will continue to take readings everyday and see what happens, could it be my live rock wasn't cured all the way. I am not sure.
Sue,
You gave me the best advice not to tweak the rock work so you must do the same.,,LOL nobody else has posted on my parameters, I was hoping to have some feed back but ooh well.
