I put a green open brain in my tank on sunday, on monday it looked like absolute crap, all the water paramiters are perfect..
Is it normal for these guys to look bad for the first couple days?

how deep is the tank if u have the brain on the bottom in the sand i dont think ur lights will burn it up. Try feeding it once see what happens.

I would hold off on worrying to much right now because I have one and it does something similar about once a week and then looks as good as every. It could take a little time to ajust to your lighting. I would move it away from your light and if you have a shaded spot then I would move it there. Mine does not sit directly under the light. I have a 150 HQI MH on a 24g tank
I would also try and feed it. I feed mine a small piece of raw shrimp once a week.
Good luck and please keep us informed
