new cam, need some tips..

Hello all,
Just got my new cam a few weeks ago.Just wanted some tips as far a shutter speed fstops so on.How to get some good macro close ups.Any advive would do.My other problem is when i resize my images i feel im loosing alot of quality.Any one know what iam doing wrong i wanna resize my images smaller but want to keep the quality.Heres a few pics any tips would be great.I got a canon A80 if that helps any.Heres a couple...........

1 more..an i know the hair alage ..in the last pic..any suggestions on gettin rid of it?just had a kid tank was neglected a bit for a month ..now back on top of it..alot of wter changes my only idea ..hate to use any chemicals..

Well I have a canon A70 which is very similar to the 80. I found that using the manual settings were best and of course the macro setting. I believe the shutter speed should be pretty low, and setting the white balance helped also. Also using a tripod and only taking shots at night with all the other lights off in the house and no flash on the camera. I am still learning hopefully someone who knows more about shutter speeds and all that will post. Basically I just take tons and tons of pictures and a few come out okay. I still cannot take very good macro's (I don't think these camera's are known for their macro shots) I am thinking about getting the lens adaptor and some macro lenses. Here are a couple of my shots:

Heres my list of suggestions.
1. Read manual really really helps allot.
2. Try not to use digital zoom if applicable. It will degrade picture quality every step closer you zoom.
3. Use Macro Mode for closeups
4. Change lighting modes to Flourescent or whatever works with your camera.
5. One of most important is use a tripod very very important.
