I too have the canon powershot s1 IS. The camera takes great pictures. Like adrock said, the Canon Powershot s2 IS is out now. It has 12x optical zoom and 5megapixels. This range of optical zoom is amazing. With such great zoom you'll find yourself not cropping photos almost completely because you can make that great pic the first time with zoom. Good luck with the camera search, there sure are too many great cameras out there but here's one vote for the canon

P.S. And just cause I feel like showing a pic...here's one. I'm staying with bang's bird theme. This shot was taken in the zoo, so I'm not too proud of the actual capture but I like the pic none-the-less.
